Dear Movie Group Members

I hope you are all well and free to meet for a movie next week.  If you are new to Fribourg and would like to meet new people then come along. Its a very international group and English is not the mother tongue of many members.  We also have Swiss woman in FEW Group who like to meet new people and speak English.

In the past couple of months I've seen a lot of movies either in the cinema or on a plane. The two  I enjoyed most were "The Railway Man" with Colin Firth and also "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" starring Ben Stiller. I notice there has been a lot of movies based on true stories e.g. Philomena, The Railway Man, The Wolf on Wall Street, Rush and also the one I am proposing today "12 Years a Slave".
"12 years a slave" storyline
Based on an incredible true story of one man's fight for survival and freedom. In the pre-Civil War United States, Solomon Northup (Chiwetel Ejiofor), a free black man from upstate New York, is abducted and sold into slavery. Facing cruelty (personified by a malevolent slave owner, portrayed by Michael Fassbender), as well as unexpected kindnesses, Solomon struggles not only to stay alive, but to retain his dignity. In the twelfth year of his unforgettable odyssey, Solomon's chance meeting with a Canadian abolitionist (Brad Pitt) will forever alter his life. Written byFox Searchlight
